Canada's Walk of Fame has presented the latest batch of five short vignettes from the 2024 Future Storytellers program - and behind the lens include three Humber Polytechnic alumni.

Nick Tablac, who graduated from the Bachelor of Film and Media Production program in 2024, tells the story of world champion figure skater Kurt Browning (Canada's Walk of Fame Inductee 2001). Tablac, a queer emerging filmmaker originally from Manila, Philippines, describes how creating this vignette deepened his appreciation for vulnerability and the unique stories that contribute to personal success.

"It taught me about the beauty behind vulnerability and how the experiences that are unique to each individual help shape a person's legacy," says Tablac.
Anne Hoang, who graduated from the Bachelor of Film and Media Production program in 2023, crafted a vignette about Autumn Peltier, 2023 Community Hero and Indigenous rights and water activist. Hoang, who moved to Canada from Vietnam in 2019, sought to highlight the role of nature in Peltier's activism.
"The beauty of nature, especially the reflection of water, really inspired my visual approach," Hoang explains.
Yagnam Dhroov, a Television Writing and Producing program graduate from 2024, moved to Canada from India in 2022 and took on the challenge of depicting Linda Schuyler, the co-creator of Degrassi (a 2023 Canada's Walk of Fame inductee). The vignette by Yagnam, who prefers to go by just his first name for cultural reasons, explores the personal connection Schuyler shares with the youth culture phenomenon.
"It was Linda's deep connection with adolescence that I wanted to explore, as it is integral to the success of Degrassi and her legacy," says Yagnam.

Thanks to the support of founding partner NBCUniversal - a long-time Humber supporter - Seeing Red, and Cineplex, the three-minute vignettes feature the journeys of Canada's iconic achievers and changemakers. The series premiers on canadaswalkoffame.com with highlight reels running in Cineplex theatres across Canada.
Shot on location in Toronto in July 2024, the Future Storytellers program has been instrumental in providing mentorship, career connections, and industry experience that help emerging storytellers elevate their work.
Now in its third year, the program has provided over a dozen emerging filmmakers with opportunities for mentorship from industry leaders, access to top-tier resources, and the chance to have their work showcased in high-profile venues, while honoring the legacy of Canadian icons who have made lasting contributions to arts, culture, and society.
