A movie day at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Catholic Elementary School not only raised funds for mental health but sparked important conversations, encouraging students to reflect on their own well-being and support one another.
Planned by the school's Healthy Action Team (HAT) and under the direction of Teachers Hayley Jarvis, Lauren Finelli, and Child and Youth Worker Jeremy Dunlop, students were able to purchase a cookie treat while they watched a select feature film.

Students then were challenged to explore the movie's key take away message and dive into how it portrayed mental health and well-being.
"Following the discussion, classes worked together to design their own movie posters," said Vice-Principal Shay Standish. "These posters, displayed proudly outside their classrooms, featured creative illustrations, meaningful taglines, and thoughtful connections to mental health themes."
In total, the school raised $500 from cookie sales, which went to support the McMaster Children's Hospital.
"Thanks to our school community's generosity, we're making a meaningful impact on mental health initiatives at McMaster Children's Hospital Outreach program."
