Humber Polytechnic kicks off new partnership with City of Toronto for FIFA World Cup 2026™

Humber Polytechnic and the City of Toronto have entered into a partnership that makes Humber an Official Toronto World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter. 

As part of the agreement, Humber's Lakeshore Campus will serve as the FIFA World Cup 26TM Volunteer Centre - Toronto and will play a pivotal role in the success of one of the world's most celebrated sporting events.

As an Official Toronto World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter, Humber will support the delivery of recruitment, training and operations the City of Toronto's volunteer program for the FIFA World Cup 2026TM. In addition to the volunteer program, the partnership also includes many experiential learning opportunities for hundreds of Humber students, with roles ranging from photography and social media street teams to music, performing arts and child and youth sport engagement as well as event operations, communications, media production, data collection and reporting.

"Humber is proud to partner with the City of Toronto as an official Host City Supporter of the FIFA World Cup 2026TM in Toronto, delivering training and services for the City of Toronto's volunteers while offering world-class, hands-on learning opportunities for our students," said Ann Marie Vaughan, Humber president and CEO. "This partnership demonstrates our commitment to delivering unparalleled student experiences, empowering learners, faculty and staff to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. Through this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, our students will develop the skills, confidence and lifelong employability that define a Humber education."

Vaughan told the audience during the annual 2025 President's Breakfast event that when the world comes to Toronto next summer, they will experience the best of what Humber and its students offer. She added that the partnership will also bring hundreds of experiential learning opportunities for Humber students.

"Whether fans are cheering at Toronto Stadium celebrating at the FIFA Fan FestivalTM at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway or picking up their uniforms and accreditation at G Cottage, which will be transformed into the FIFA World Cup 2026TM Volunteer Centre -Toronto they'll experience the very best of Humber and our students," said Vaughan. "This is more than a partnership; it's a moment where education, community and global sport come together to create lasting impact."

The partnership underscores Humber's commitment to reimagining learning, which is a core pillar of its Building Brilliance strategic vision. Through this agreement with the City of Toronto, Humber connects education with high-profile industry opportunities, providing unique experiential learning opportunities that help students stand out and drive future career success.
