Backpacks bring smiles to students in Rainbow Schools

December 15, 2025

Some students from Adamsdale Public School and Queen Elizabeth II Public School received new backpacks thanks to a generous donation from the Kiwanis Club of North Eastern Ontario and Staples in Sudbury.

The Staples School Supply Drive Campaign was held at the stores on Notre-Dame Avenue and Marcus Drive this past fall. Staples provided a further discount to maximize supplies for children.

Adamsdale Public School received backpacks and school supplies donated by the Kiwanis Club of North Eastern Ontario and Staples in Sudbury. Showcasing the new backpacks are, from left, Lily Leach, Griffyn Gignac and Pavel Peltier.

"Students were thrilled to receive a new backpack and surprised to find a lunch bag or pencil case enclosed," said Director of Education Bruce Bourget.

Rainbow District School Board thanks the Kiwanis Club, Staples and the many customers who made donations during the campaign.

"We are so grateful for the support of our students and their education," said Director Bourget. "This means a lot to our families and our schools."

The Staples School Supply Drive Campaign is one of many service projects presented by the Kiwanis Club of North Eastern Ontario. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.

"Students need supplies to be successful in school," said local Club President Serge Viau. "We welcome the opportunity to organize the drive and thank Staples and its customers for their generous contributions."
