We are excited to share that Suddaby Public School has won the Mike & Pat Wagner Heritage Award for Preservation and Restoration from the City of Kitchener.
Suddaby PS was established in 1857 and has been part of the Kitchener community for almost 170 years.
The award celebrates the WRDSB's efforts to preserve the school's rich history, while honouring the building's heritage and character. Recently, the school replaced 87 original wood windows on the Frederick Street facade with new energy-efficient windows that were custom-designed to replicate the originals. The restoration project followed specific rules outlined by Heritage Kitchener to help to protect historic buildings making sure the integrity of the school's heritage features were fully respected and retained.
We are proud of this wonderful achievement and thankful to everyone who helped preserve this piece of shared history.
