Tentative agreement for HPEDSB & Occasional Teachers

Joint release between HPEDSB and HAPE OTL

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and the Hastings Prince Edward Occasional Teachers' Local (HAPE OTL) are pleased to announce that the parties have reached a tentative agreement on local bargaining issues.

"Thank you to the negotiating teams for their hard work and commitment to reaching a fair and balanced tentative agreement. Occasional teachers are valued educators at HPEDSB. They contribute to meaningful classroom experiences where students learn and grow," said Dr. Kari Kramp, Chair of the Board.

"The Hastings and Prince Edward Occasional Teacher Local, through the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) continues to work for the betterment of our Occasional Teachers through education and training while moving towards improved working conditions and fair hiring. The new collective agreement is a step forward in addressing the issues facing us," said Doug Thur, President, Hastings and Prince Edward Occasional Teachers' Local.

HAPE OTL represents approximately 250 occasional teachers. The term of the agreement is from September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2026.

Ratification votes by both parties will take place in the coming weeks. No other details will be released at this time.
