The University of Calgary has launched its 2026 Employee Engagement Pulse Survey, inviting faculty and staff to share feedback on their workplace experience and help consider progress since the 2024 engagement survey.
The pulse survey is a short check-in that takes about 15 minutes to complete. It is open to employees who have worked at UCalgary for six months or more. Eligible participants will receive a unique, secure link from TalentMap, the third-party provider administering the survey. The survey will remain open until Feb. 27.
Designed as a follow-up to the comprehensive 2024 employee engagement survey, the pulse survey centres on a few key areas such as student focus, innovation, services and supports, and overall employee engagement. The goal is to understand how employees are experiencing their work today and whether recent efforts are making a difference.
"Our people are at the centre of everything we do at UCalgary," says President Ed McCauley. "Taking the time to listen helps us understand how people are experiencing their work and whether we're moving in the right direction."
The pulse survey is part of an ongoing approach to listening and engagement that began with the 2024 survey. Results from that survey informed action planning across the university, with faculties and units developing local plans to address their specific needs while contributing to shared institutional goals.
These efforts align with the university's Ahead of Tomorrow strategic plan, the implementation plans, and the Talent for Tomorrow people plan, all of which focus on fostering a positive, supportive, and empowered work environment where employees can thrive.
The 2024 engagement survey drew responses from nearly 2,900 employees and highlighted areas such as innovation and student focus as opportunities for growth. Feedback from that survey is already shaping decisions and initiatives across campus. The pulse survey helps maintain momentum by tracking progress and identifying where further attention may be needed.
By participating, employees help shape a university-wide conversation about workplace culture, opportunities, and challenges. Insights from the pulse survey will be shared in a future What We Heard report.
