The City of Morden's Parks and Urban Forestry team marked Earth Day by planting several new trees with help from students at Morden Collegiate Institute.
The students (several in full Lorax costume) were shown proper planting techniques and learned about the importance of diversifying our tree species. Students then broke into teams and helped with digging, planting, spreading mulch, and putting in stakes to support the trees.

The nine new trees include species such as elm, linden, honey locust, and more. Thanks to the students and our staff, they will now become part of Morden's lush tree canopy, providing shade and clean air for years to come!
