Science Rendezvous, the ultimate celebration of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), is back at Camosun College and University of Victoria on May 10, 2025. This free, family-friendly event is designed to explore the wonders of STEM through interactive exhibits, thrilling demonstrations, and explosive experiments, which is sure to excite the young and young at heart!
"Camosun is excited to host this year's Science Rendezvous and hopes that it will provide important early exposure to the exciting world of STEM," says Ruthanne Orihuela, Acting Dean, School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), at Camosun College. "There is so much creativity and innovation needed to tackle our world's biggest challenges. Our hope is that our Science Rendezvous participants walk away inspired and excited about a future career in STEM."
This year's event features an exciting mix of new activities alongside returning favorites. Participants can uncover the secrets of the human body through skeletal analysis in Skeletal Stories, witness physics in action with interactive light, sound, and wave experiments in Tripping the Light Fantastic, or develop problem-solving skills with Turing Tumbler robots and Edison Bots. From weather balloon launches to the psychology of perception, there's something to spark curiosity in every corner.
To make it easier for families, activities will be located at Camosun College's Interurban Campus- Tech Building and Campus Centre Courtyard and the University of Victoria- Bob Wright Centre from 10am to 3pm. Both locations feature a distraction-reduced environment (quieter and less busy) from 9:30am- 10am.
With this year's theme as WONDER, Science Rendezvous invites attendees to be curious, create memories, and innovate something new. Admission is free, and no registration is required.
