The Université de Sudbury is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Université de Hearst that establishes a framework for collaboration in the management of its library. This initiative contributes to the sustainable strengthening of French-language university infrastructure in Ontario and to the expansion of service offerings within the francophone postsecondary network.
As part of this agreement, the entire collection of approximately 29,000 titles held by the Université de Sudbury will be integrated into Université de Hearst's library catalogue. This sharing of resources will improve access to materials for students and faculty, while supporting academic success and advancing research.
This partnership is grounded in the sharing of expertise and infrastructure, generating significant economies of scale and ensuring the efficient and sustainable management of library services. Rather than recreating siloed structures, the two universities are adopting a collaborative approach that maximizes the impact of public investments.
"This partnership with Université de Hearst reflects our commitment to building strong and sustainable foundations for French-language university education in Ontario. It provides our university community with expanded access to high-quality documentary resources, while strengthening long-term collaboration among francophone institutions, to the benefit of students studying in a minority-language context."
- Serge Miville, President and Vice-Chancellor, Université de Sudbury
"By joining forces, we are increasing access to French-language documentary resources and supporting the vitality of research and university teaching in Northern Ontario."
- Sophie Dallaire, Rector, Université de Hearst
This agreement aligns with the Université de Sudbury's broader partnership strategy, which prioritizes collaboration with French-language postsecondary institutions in Ontario in order to actively strengthen the francophone university network, consolidate sustainable French-language services, and support the academic and scientific development of the regions they serve.
