Across our communities, students begin their school day facing all kinds of challenges early mornings, long commutes, busy schedules, and in some cases, limited access to nutritious food. But thanks to the Ontario Student Nutrition Program (OSNP), a brighter, more supported start to the day is possible for every child.
Housed within the Victorian Order of Nurses, the OSNP supports schools across all three school boards in Chatham-Kent, including the Lambton Kent District School Board. The goal is simple yet powerful: to ensure that every student is nourished, included, and ready to learn.
But OSNP is about more than just food. It's about connection. It's about ensuring that every student regardless of background or circumstance feels like they belong and that someone cares. That's why these programs are open to all students, no questions asked.
From fresh, local breakfasts to nutritious midday snacks, the OSNP lays a foundation for learning, growth, and success. With every apple sliced and every yogurt served, students are not only getting the nutrients they need to focus and flourish they're also receiving a daily reminder that their wellbeing matters.
This vital work wouldn't be possible without the commitment of local volunteers and community champions who bring these programs to life each day. Whether it's preparing meals before the first bell, organizing deliveries, or helping run fundraising initiatives, our volunteers are the heart of the program. Their time, energy, and care ensure that no student is left behind.
We also recognize the tremendous support of community partners, local businesses, and donors who continue to fuel this mission. Through generous contributions and ongoing collaboration, our community is helping create an environment where every child has the opportunity to rise, grow, and shine.
