The 2025 CCAA Men's Basketball Championship, hosted by Vanier College the weekend of March 15, came to a nail-biter finish, when the Humber Hawks who were trailing the Durham Lords until the last half of the final quarter, shot to first place thanks to four 3-pointers that clinched the game. The Humber Hawks won the Championship 76-70 walking away with the Gold Medal, while the Durham Lords took Silver. Congratulations to both teams who played a great game and provided a final surprise storybook ending for the Hawks who earned their eighth CCAA Championship.

The face-off for the Bronze Medal between the hosting Vanier Cheetahs and the Dynamiques de Brébeuf provided another edge-of-your-seat game where both teams played a super game and were tied at the end of the second quarter. At the start of the second half of the game, the Cheetahs took the lead, but the Dynamiques soon came back scoring 10 points in less than five minutes. In the final quarter of the game Vanier took the lead once again, but in then the Dynamiques retaliated and finally won the game with a final score of 70-60. Congratulations to the Dynamiques de Brébeuf on winning the 2025 CCAA Bronze Medal! And congratulations to the Vanier home team of the Cheetahs for their valiant play.

Basketball enthusiast and head cheerleader, Vanier College, Director General Benoit Morin was there for the opening game toss-up. "It was amazing to see our Cheetahs push themselves to achieve excellence. They are the embodiment of the great future for our society that we all cheer and work for at Vanier. Kudos to our Cheetahs and thank you for the excitement!"

Mai Anh Nguyen, Vanier College Student Life Coordinator who help coordinate the event stated, "Hosting the National Championship was a success. It allowed our college community and our city to see some very competitive basketball; and it assembled our departments and allowed our college to shine."

Indeed, Vanier College was thrilled with hosting the 2025 basketball highlight of the season. The Championship was a year in the planning and called on many departments to ensure everything ran smoothly - including the Cheetah players who were the hosting team, personnel from Student Life and Student Services, as well as employees from the Vanier Athletics, Facilities and Security departments. In addition, more than seventy student volunteers were on hand to cheer on the players and help activities run smoothly. A big congratulations and thank-you goes out to all of them. Their hard work paid off with a superb Championship.

The next Men's CCAA National Championship will take place in Nanaimo BC, at VIU University in March 2026.
