The Blessed Trinity Thunder have come a long way in a short period of time.
The Thunder topped the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 7-6 Wednesday morning (May 21) at ND to capture their first Niagara Catholic Athletic Association boys field lacrosse AAA championship in just their second season with a team.
Head coach Tyler Brown was amazed at how well the team came together since the start of the season.
"It was a learning experience for me and all these guys," said Brown, a former member of the St. Catharines WMKL Athletics junior A lacrosse team. "It was awesome to see these guys grow from our first practice where we couldn't really get through a warm up. A lot of these guys haven't played lacrosse before.
"It was a little bit of a tough time but to see that from the last practice we had last night where everything was flowing and we could run some drills and some set up plays and set up defence, the growth in these guys is truly amazing."
