For many students, the final months of the semester are about wrapping up assignments and preparing for graduation. For Javin Bhalla, it was also about launching a fully developed mobile application on the global stage.
Just days ago, the graduating Graphic Design student officially released Anchor: Mindful Typing on the Apple App Store - an accomplishment that reflects not only creativity, but technical skill, discipline, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Javin first introduced the app at Canadore's annual program showcase, offering a preview of a concept that blends design, functionality, and wellness. In the weeks that followed, he brought that concept to life - designing, programming, and launching the app, all while managing the demands of his final semester.
Anchor: Mindful Typing is designed to encourage more intentional and mindful digital interactions, helping users slow down and engage more thoughtfully with their devices - a concept that resonates in today's fast-paced, always-connected world.
What makes this achievement particularly notable is the scope of the work. Javin independently developed the app from start to finish, demonstrating a wide range of skills that extend well beyond traditional graphic design - including user experience design, coding, product development, and digital storytelling.
This kind of cross-disciplinary capability is exactly what Canadore's Graphic Design program aims to foster: graduates who are not only creative thinkers, but also adaptable, innovative problem-solvers ready to bring ideas to life.
Javin's success is a strong example of how hands-on learning, applied projects, and real-world opportunities can empower students to move beyond the classroom and into industry - sometimes even before they graduate.
As he prepares to take the next step in his career, his work already stands as a reminder of what's possible when creativity meets initiative.
