GEORGE BROWN COLLEGE
College partners with CILTNA to create pathway for Supply Chain graduates to advance their careers

January 19, 2023

George Brown College's School of Continuing Education and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation North America (CILTNA) have signed an agreement to create more opportunities for students to enter the logistics and transportation industry.

"We are pleased to partner with The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) which is the oldest international transportation and logistics organization in the world," said Joseph Sirianni, Chair, Technology and Trades, School of Continuing Education, George Brown College. "The COVID-19 pandemic has directly impacted global supply chains and transport and logistics, and this global accreditation benefits students and increases their employment opportunities. Students will be joining an international community of transportation and logistics professionals where they can advance both their education and careers."

The global supply chain has been a major area of concern since the beginning of the pandemic. As organizations expand their business operations, many are looking for skilled, talented professionals to deal with problems of supply chain management across different products, locations, and organizations. With this partnership, graduates of George Brown's online Supply Chain Management Program qualify to receive the International Diploma in Logistics and Transport offered by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), in addition to their George Brown certificate.

"We are pleased to partner with CILTNA to provide a new pathway for graduates looking to advance their careers in an industry that is growing by leaps and bounds," said Dr. Gervan Fearon, President, George Brown College. "We have a well-established background as a centre of excellence for the study and advancement of supply chain management. The partnership with CILTNA will further enhance our support for student career development and success as well as contribute to industry growth and competitiveness."

"We at CILTNA are extremely pleased to be associated with George Brown College and its administration, faculty, and students. It is a leading institution with a vision we share:  to raise the performance of supply chains by developing a stream of talented professionals who make their mark in the world and progress rapidly to their full potential.  The new opportunities they will have by connecting with other professionals in CILT's international logistics and transport network will open many doors and make their education at George Brown College all the more valuable," said Bob Armstrong, President CILTNA.

Program participants are eligible for CILTNA student membership, which provides access to free CILTNA events and a discount on paid events. Program graduates who can demonstrate one year of work experience in the logistics or transportation industry are eligible for the working-level CILTNA membership.
