Learners planning to enrol in Algonquin College's Practical Nursing program can apply for free tuition through the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant
The provincial funding is being offered to qualified learners to help address the shortage of much-needed healthcare workers across Ontario. The grant will cover the costs of tuition, books, compulsory fees and other educational costs like supplies and equipment. Successful applicants can also apply to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) to cover other learning-related expenses, such as living costs.
Upon graduation, learners who received the grant will be required to work in the region of their education for a minimum of six months per year of funded study. For future learners in the two-year AC Practical Nursing program, that equates to two years of free education for only a one-year commitment.
The grant will be available to learners who begin the College's Practical Nursing program in Fall 2023 or Winter 2024. The grant is currently only available to new students. Further eligibility and application information can be found on the Ontario government's Learn and Stay webpage, or by contacting the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities
