COLLEGES AND INSTITUTES CANADA
CICan signs MoU's to support training, innovation and employment in Vietnam

April 28, 2023

Last month, Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) signed four memorandums of understanding (MoU) to further build on a 40-year relationship with Vietnamese partners to support the Vietnamese education sector.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between CICan and Khoi Nguyen Investment Group to support the establishment of an international college in Vietnam, including the development and delivery of high-quality applied learning programs and opportunities for students that will support Vietnam's economy.

Another memorandum of understanding was signed between CICan, Nova Scotia Community College, Tra Vinh University, the Vietnam Association Community Colleges (VACC) and the British Columbia Council of International Education (BCCIE) to promote further education, training and research activities for students in Vietnam.

The third and fourth memorandums of understanding were signed between CICan and Tra Vinh University and CICan and VACC both to promote digital transformation in teaching and learning among members, to develop gender-responsive teacher training and TVET curriculum and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals in higher education particularly in the Mekong Delta region.

These agreements were signed at the Vietnam - Canada International Education and Partnership conference held in Tra Vinh City, Vietnam from March 19 to 21.  The conference aimed to develop sustainable partnerships between Canada and Vietnam in education and vocational training. Other agreements were also developed with some of CICan's member institutions.

CICan recognizes the importance of delivering high-quality educational programs and innovative training to students internationally. These MoUs provide CICan and its members with an opportunity to deepen their global engagement and create stronger international relationships that will benefit students.

Canadian colleges and institutes have been engaging with international partners for 50 years. Last year, CICan launched a new three-year International Strategy that will further strengthen and futureproof the Canadian college and institute network through internationalization and global engagement.
