An Ontario Mortgage Agent Level 1 is a professional who deals or trades in mortgages for a licensed mortgage brokerage, under the supervision of a licensed mortgage broker. Humber's Mortgage Agent Level 1 course has been designed to meet Mortgage Broker Regulators' Council of Canada standards, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to the education requirements for prospective mortgage agents.
The course provides leaners who want to become licensed as a Mortgage Agent - Level 1 in this province with the knowledge and understanding of the mortgage brokerage industry and an ability to perform the Mortgage Agent's role in the mortgage application process. Once completed, the program prepares Level 1 Mortgage Agents to be able to deal and trade in mortgages with lenders that are financial institutions or approved under the National Housing Act.
In the course, learners engage with legislation governing the mortgage industry while learning about the role of the Mortgage Agent in consumer protection and ethical decision-making.
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be eligible to apply for their Mortgage Agent Level 1 license, providing a clear pathway to entering the industry as a mortgage agent.
"Humber provides industry-relevant education that responds directly to the needs of the current job market," said Erin Gray, associate dean, Program Delivery. "This course offers a clear pathway to entering the mortgage industry, and we are confident that our learners will be on track to finding rewarding careers upon completing the program."
This accreditation positions Humber as a leading provider of specialized education in Ontario's financial services sector, delivering a course that meets the requirements of Ontario regulations under the Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders, and Administrators Act.
The course is an example of Humber tackling training solutions and industry challenges head-on.
"Humber has long-term partnerships with a number of associations, institutes and regulators to deliver quality professional programs," said Wanda Buote, dean of Education & Training Solutions. "This new program aligns with Humber's vision of creating learning opportunities that lead to licensing, professional designations and accreditation that are valued by the sector."
