LAKELAND COLLEGE
Feast on the Farm to fuel student innovation

April 10, 2025

Lakeland College is thrilled to announce the 8th annual Feast on the Farm presented by Cenovus Energy on Aug. 14, 2025. This premier fundraising event supports student-led learning, the foundational aspect of a Lakeland College education and we invite you to join us!

The event features a grassroots evening including a dinner, silent auction and live entertainment beneath a tent set up on the college's Research Centre. Live entertainment this year will be provided by Abygale Durie, an up-and-coming Albertan country music artist.

"Feast on the Farm is more than a fundraiser," says Dr. Alice Wainwright-Stewart. "It's an investment in future student-led initiatives that give our students the opportunity to put their skills into action - before they graduate. Support at this event has a lasting, meaningful impact on our students and, through them, on the future of our communities. The fact that we get to share an amazing dining experience with friends, old and new, is just the icing on a magical evening."

Feast on the Farm began in 2016 and to date, $342,000 has been raised from the event. All funds go directly to student-led projects and enhancing student experiences. Some projects it has supported include the Border Beauty Showcase, a teaching experience in Mexico, the Wellness Symposium, a professional night for agricultural sciences and environmental sciences and a portable scale for the Dairy Learning Centre.

"Feast-funded events are student-driven," explains Wainwright-Stewart. "That's what makes them unique. They are ideas that are conceptualized, developed and implemented by our students, with faculty guidance and assistance. Support at Feast on the Farm directly fuels our students' learning experiences and gives them the resources they need to dream big and make those dreams a reality."

"At Cenovus, we're committed to supporting the communities where we live and work, and we're excited to once again partner with Lakeland College for its annual Feast on the Farm," says Clayton Ulrich, Cenovus' senior field manager, conventional heavy oil. "A highlight for our team each year is hearing from the students themselves about how the funds raised at this event positively impact their educational journey. This gift of time and learning is what brings the community together and fosters growth at the college and in the region."

This is the fourth consecutive year that Cenovus has been the presenting sponsor at Feast on the Farm and their support of Lakeland extends beyond the event. They have also contributed to the student awards program and played a pivotal role in the creation of the Energy Centre and residence village on Lloydminster campus. In 2023, they also made a $650,000 donation supporting Indigenous learners at the college.
