SELKIRK COLLEGE
Celebrating Dedicated Employees and Retirees

May 7, 2025

Selkirk College proudly recognizes the dedicated efforts of its long-serving employees and those transitioning into retirement, whose commitment plays a vital role in student success.

Employees across all areas embody the College's core values of community, access, respect, and excellence, working collaboratively to help learners achieve their educational goals.

"Whether teaching in the classroom or supporting students in diverse ways beyond, our employees demonstrate unwavering dedication," says Stacey Matthews, Executive Director of Human Resources. "We are fortunate to have such dedicated employees who strive every day to ensure students have a rewarding experience at Selkirk College."

This recognition highlights the collective spirit and hard work that bind colleagues in a shared mission to empower students and enrich the College community.

This year, we proudly honor the following employees for their long service and upcoming retirements. Additional recognition will be announced as we approach each individual's milestone date.

25 Years of Service: Ashley Popoff, Laverne Popoff

20 Years of Service: Kim Verigin, Rob Tanner, John Tucker

10 Years of Service: Melissa Bleier, Amy Bohigian, Bruce Davis, Ian Hickingbotham, Alison Daley, Jenny Latremouille, Penelope Caldwell, Jessica Adrain, Kamala Melzack, Donna Drover, Andrew Scherck

5 Years of Service: Matthew McAllister, Bruno-Charles Busseau, Richard Kinnaird, Kristen Murrell, Shawn Curran

Retirements: Carol Currie (10 years of service), Stephen Seaborn (25 years of service), Duff Sutherland (25 years of service), Susanna Harrison (10 years of service), Gerald Lightburn (21 years of service), Carter Balzer (21 years of service)

"In response to current financial challenges, we are thoughtfully adapting our event traditions to ensure meaningful and personalized recognition," says Matthews. "Instead of a formal dinner, employees will receive individual acknowledgements honoring their service and retirement. We remain dedicated to celebrating all employees together at the welcome back barbecue event in late August, marking the start of the academic year with community and camaraderie."
