The free event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. across some of the city's busiest corridors, connecting Sandwich Town, the Riverfront, Downtown, Wyandotte Town Centre, Walkerville and Ford City.

Residents and visitors are invited to take to the streets by walking and rolling along the designated route to explore and enjoy the vibrant neighbourhoods that make Windsor unique. Music and activities will line the route as the streets are reimagined to allow the community to gather, engage, and explore.

"As one of Windsor's favourite annual community traditions, we are excited about Open Streets Windsor 2025," said Windsor Mayor, Drew Dilkens. "With a return to the classic route from Sandwich Town in the west to Ford City in the east, the event offers a chance to engage and experience some of Windsor's iconic landmarks, vibrant districts, and unique neighbourhoods along the route."

St. Clair College and its Alumni Association are title sponsors of the event, with a presence in Downtown Windsor outside the MediaPlex at 275 Victoria Ave.

Eight distinct hubs along the route will feature community partners hosting activities and displays to promote health, physical activity, arts, culture, heritage, and diversity.

New additions this year:

  • Vendor Market: Located in the River Rest Hub along Riverside Drive West. This area will highlight local businesses, and food vendors, creating new opportunities for community engagement and economic development.
  • New City Hall Square event space: Programming including live entertainment and activity zones for all ages.

"This event aligns with many City initiatives around investment, growth, and sustainability, including the Strengthen the Core downtown revitalization strategy," said Mayor Dilkens. "Open Streets promotes walking, biking, and other forms of active transportation, encouraging healthy and active living while fostering eco-friendly practices and highlighting local businesses and community organizations."

"Windsor is one of the most important and fastest growing communities in Ontario and Canada, and this day invites us to come together, explore, and celebrate some of the best sights, sounds, and experiences that our community has to offer," the mayor said.

Back by popular demand, participants can collect commemorative badges at each hub that feature artistic renditions of Windsor's iconic landmarks.

"Events like Open Streets Windsor are vital to our community because they bring people together in meaningful ways," said Ward 3 Coun. Renaldo Agostino. "They create opportunities for residents and businesses to connect, for families to explore and experience what our community has to offer. That sense of connection and vibrancy is key to revitalizing our city."
