SUDBURY
CSC Nouvelon and Collège Boréal partner to support special education

April 16, 2026

The Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon and Collège Boréal joined forces to host a day of activities for students in CSC Nouvelon's special education classes on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Collège Boréal's Sudbury campus.

The event brought together nearly 60 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in special education classes from Ste-Marie (Azilda), Félix-Ricard (Sudbury) and Jean-Paul II (Val Caron) Catholic elementary schools, École secondaire catholique l'Horizon (Val Caron), and Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury). Faculty and students from Collège Boréal's Child and Youth Care program (TESQ) also took part.

Throughout the day, TESQ students led a variety of adapted activities and craft stations for students. The event closed with a musical performance by Rodney Meilleur, CSC Nouvelon's cultural identity facilitator.

The partnership is designed to help students in CSC Nouvelon's special education classes build social and practical skills through a positive experience alongside the next generation of Francophone professionals in the field. It also gives TESQ students at Collège Boréal an opportunity to put their learning into practice, gain hands-on experience, and build meaningful connections with young people with special educational needs.

We are proud to collaborate with Collège Boréal and students in the Child and Youth Care program to provide CSC Nouvelon students with authentic learning opportunities that enrich their school experience and help them feel valued, grow and thrive. This partnership strengthens the ties between our two institutions in support of the success and well-being of Francophone youth and the delivery of special education services.

Chantal Lafleur, Director of Special Education Services at CSC Nouvelon

This partnership with CSC Nouvelon reflects a shared commitment to taking concrete action to address the labour shortage affecting professionals who work with children and adolescents. Thanks to the strong commitment of our faculty, we are pleased to work together to support the growth and development of Francophone youth by providing students across our learning community with essential hands-on training opportunities and a meaningful introduction to a range of rewarding and impactful careers.
