Our new SMART Manufacturing Lab gives Humber Polytechnic students hands-on experience with the technologies that are shaping modern manufacturing. Not in isolation. Not in theory. But as part of a fully integrated system.

Our grand opening launch event kicked off with opening remarks from President and CEO Ann Marie Vaughan followed by a presentation by Dean, School of Engineering, Shaun Ghafari who discussed that this was more than the opening of a lab, it was about closing the productivity gap and preparing the next generation of skilled professionals who will drive Canada's manufacturing future forward.
He also recognized our exceptional technical team: Simon Heathcote, Khaled Ibrahim, Colin Buddin, and Fabien Burguera, whose dedication during the design, installation, and commissioning of this system turned vision into reality. Their work has been foundational.
Guests also heard from Ian Cameron, Bachelor of Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering student who is leading a dedicated student team with determination and vision to build an autonomous surface vehicle and compete in global competitions.
Gina Antonacci, Senior Vice President, Academic delivered closing remarks before the delegation proceeded to the SMART Manufacturing Lab for a full tour of the new facility.
Thank you to our industry partners: Kuka Robotics, DMG Mori, Waybo, and Siemens, for their generous contributions, expertise, and commitment to student success. Their partnership ensures that what our students learn in this lab, reflect the realities of today's manufacturing floor.
