CAMBRIAN COLLEGE
Convocation Week celebrates achievement, leadership, and community at Cambrian College

June 2, 2026

Cambrian College will celebrate this year's class of graduating students during next week's annual convocation ceremonies at its Barry Downe campus.

Approximately 1500 graduates are expected to receive their credentials across six ceremonies between June 8 and 10. The credentials include certificates, diplomas, advance diplomas, degrees and graduate certificates.

"Convocation is one of the most meaningful times of the year at Cambrian College," says Kristine Morrissey, President of Cambrian College. "It is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work, perseverance, and accomplishments of our students as they prepare to start their careers and have an impact in their professions and communities, whether in Northern Ontario or around the world."

This year's convocation ceremonies will also recognize outstanding academic achievement, community leadership, distinguished alumni, and community contributors.

Every year, the college presents the Dr. Fred Sheridan Award to a citizen who has demonstrated significant contributions to education and the Cambrian community. This year's recipient is Sonia Del Missier. A dedicated community volunteer, with a career spanning nearly four decades at Cambrian College, Sonia has played a transformative role not only within Cambrian but across the broader educational sector.

Del Missier will receive the Dr. Fred Sheridan Award at the Tuesday morning ceremony, beginning at 10 a.m.

Last year's convocation marked the first time Cambrian bestowed an honourary degree on a citizen who has exemplified outstanding achievement and contributions to the community.

This new tradition continues this year with an honourary degree being given to Julie Zulich, the owner and CEO of TESC Contracting. A visionary business leader and nationally renowned entrepreneur, Julie has been a significant supporter of women in skilled trades.

Zulich will receive her honourary degree at the Wednesday afternoon ceremony, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

"Julie Zulich and Sonia Del Missier exemplify the kind of leadership, service, and community impact that reflect Cambrian College's values," adds Morrissey. "Their contributions have strengthened Northern Ontario in meaningful ways, and we are proud to recognize their achievements during this year's convocation celebrations."
