SASKATCHEWAN POLYTECHNIC
The McDougall family awarded honorary degree from Sask Polytech

June 8, 2026

For more than two decades, Saskatchewan Polytechnic has recognized exceptional individuals whose achievements and service have made a lasting impact across the province. At its Moose Jaw campus convocation, Sask Polytech awarded the McDougall family an honorary degree in applied studies.

The McDougalls operate a century farm east of Moose Jaw and are now working alongside the fifth generation to join the family business. Two of the company's four directors grew up on the farm, and all have been part of its leadership since 1998, helping guide its growth from a grain farm into pedigreed seed production and grain and pulse processing.

"With more than a century of stewardship, innovation, and resilience at its foundation, the McDougall family's legacy extends far beyond agriculture," says Dr. Larry Rosia, president and CEO of Sask Polytech. "It reflects a deep and enduring commitment to creating opportunity and investing in future generations, including their significant and long-standing philanthropic support of Sask Polytech students. With three of McDougall Acres Grainex's four directors already holding Sask Polytech credentials, today's honorary degree awarded to the McDougall Family further strengthens an existing, shared commitment to Saskatchewan's continued prosperity and success."

McDougall Acres Grainex Inc. supports the full journey from seed production to providing quality seed for producers to grow to developing dependable markets for the crops produced. This connection between agriculture, producers and end users continues to shape the company's approach today.

Today, McDougall Acres Grainex holds one of Saskatchewan's largest portfolios of certified seed and has built a reputation for high performance. The company supplies pulse ingredients to the pet food industry and exports chickpeas to 30 countries.

The directors believe strongly that business success should go hand in hand with supporting the communities that support them. Whether contributing to projects like the local multiplex, hospital, and community hall, volunteering on community boards, coaching youth sports, or supporting local recreation facilities, community involvement has always been an important part of their lives.

Over the years, the McDougall family has supported Sask Polytech activities and shared its experience with students. That commitment is also reflected in the McDougall Acres Grainex scholarship, which supports students who demonstrate hard work, leadership and community involvement.

Congratulations to the McDougall family.

Honouring individuals for their distinguished achievements is a longstanding convocation tradition at Sask Polytech. Honorary degree recipients model the institution's vision and values.
