The second edition of the Femina des cégépien.ne.s has just been launched at five CEGEPs (John-Abbott, Dawson, Champlain, Vanier, and Heritage).
Supported by the renowned Femina and founded in 2025, the Femina des cégépien.ne.s is an award given to a book published in France and selected exclusively by students at Quebec CEGEPs. Last year, the jury chose to award the prize to Anthony Passeron for his novel Jacky (Grasset).
Organized by Daniel Rondeau and Ariane Bessette, professors of literature and French at John Abbott CEGEP, the "Femina des cégépien.ne.s" is a real challenge: it involves reading ten books in two months, after which some fifty student readers will select their favorite book during final deliberations to be held on November 19 at John Abbott CEGEP.
Throughout the fall, guided by their professors, CEGEP students who are passionate about reading will discuss, debate, and choose the novel that has moved them the most from among those selected by the official committee of the prestigious Femina.
"Every CEGEP has its elite hockey or football team. These students are the elite team in literature!" sums up Daniel Rondeau, co-organizer of the Femina des cégépien.ne.s.
