The Women's Curling team completed a historic season by defeating the Fanshawe Falcons 8-4 to win the National Championship.
The Sting rebounded from a shaky start to the Championship by winning five straight matches.
Following an opening win over Confederation that was won on a final rock shot by skip Stephanie Vanhuyse, the Sting fell to Grant MacEwan 7-4.
It would be the only blunder for the team who captured the school's first CCAA Championship in Curling and eleventh overall.
The Sting would then string together three consecutive round robin wins over Red Deer (11-9), Holland (12-4) and Fanshawe (9-4), setting up a chance for a spot in the final in the round robin finalé.
The final round robin match saw the Sting defeat the NAIT Ooks 8-5 to advance to the championship game.
In the final against the Falcons, the Sting scored two in the third end following a pair of blank ends. The turning point in the game occured in the fourth end when the Sting stole four to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
From there, the Sting stayed composed and forced the Falcons to run out of rocks to capture the gold medal.
