On June 7th, Cégep Heritage College opened its doors to staff and students of Aylmer's Euclide-Lanthier elementary school to enable them to complete their school year while urgent repairs were made to their building following major damage to the electric system of the school.
The school year is now almost over and the Cégep took the opportunity during a press conference on June 20 to highlight this effort of solidarity and collaboration between the elementary and college sectors so that students can keep receiving quality services.
Ms. Maryse Gaudreault, MNA for Hull, praised this beautiful example of solidarity, mutual aid and generosity. "I am very moved to see this collaboration and mutual support. I join my voice to all those who were able to benefit from accessing services from Cégep Heritage College and I thank all the college staff and management. I also salute the students, staff and teachers of Euclide-Lanthier."
Ms. Johanne Légaré, Chair of Portages de l'Outaouais School Board stressed that "everything was organized to ensure a semester as normal as possible for all Euclide-Lanthier students."
Mr. Michael Randall, Director General of Cégep Heritage College added that "the College staff redoubled its efforts in order to welcome this group in a healthy, comforting and welcoming climate."
Finally, Ms. Eveline Breton, Chair of the Conseil d'établissement of Euclid-Lanthier and Ms. Patricia Ryan, Director of the school, proudly recognized the work of staff, teachers, parents and students who have been able to adapt quickly to these unusual circumstances.
