On April 12th, Cégep Heritage College welcomed a delegation of representatives from the Organisation professionnelle des chefs d'établissement d'enseignement libre (SNCEEL) in France. The objective of the meeting is to work towards the implementation of an agreement between SNCEEL and the Fédération des cégeps that was signed in 2017.
The agreement aims to promote mobility projects between students from some 600 Lycées in France and 48 Cégeps in Québec. The visit of the SNCEEL delegation also aims at promoting the 48 Cégeps located in different Québec regions and more particularly their program offerings.
SNCEEL is on its third visit to Québec. Representatives were welcomed by Mr. Mathieu Lacombe, Minister responsible for the Outaouais, Mr. Greg Fergus, Member of Parliament for Hull-Aylmer, Ms. Maryse Gaudreault, MNA for Hull, Mrs. Brigitte Proucelle, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action at the Embassy of France in Ottawa, as well as Mr. Pierre Lanthier, Deputy Mayor of Gatineau and Mr. Michael Randall, Director General of Cégep Heritage College.
Mr. Randall stressed the importance of this visit by pointing out that the France-Quebec exchanges have given rise to very unique experiences for students in recent years. "French students who have stayed in Quebec as part of exchanges with higher learning institutions have had very rewarding experiences. It's up to us to do the same with French Lycées students." Over the past three years, Cégep Heritage College has hosted some 20 students from France and is exploring options for Quebec students to do the same in France.
