The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Ramsay as its next Vice-President, Human Resources effective July 6.

Ms. Ramsay was selected following a national search and brings more than 20 years of experience in public sector human resources and operations leadership to the VP role.

"I am extremely excited to join JIBC where I know the passion for public safety runs deep," said Ms. Ramsay. "I look forward to continuing to serve the emergency services community with Canada's leading public safety educator."

Ms. Ramsay's prior roles included serving as both Vice-President of Operations and Executive Director of Human Resources with E-Comm 9-1-1, British Columbia's largest emergency communications centre, and as a labour negotiator with Metro Vancouver.

"Erin's experience, I am delighted to say, has been focused primarily within the emergency services community, where she was responsible for significant change initiatives leveraging both best practices and technology to support people and achieve goals," said Dr. Michel Tarko, JIBC President and CEO. "She has a great passion for developing strong and productive work cultures and attracting and retaining top talent."

Dr. Tarko noted Ms. Ramsay will be succeeding the incumbent Vice-President, Human Resources, Jon Marks, upon his retirement. "I want to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Jon for his leadership and service since joining JIBC in 2007, as a member of the executive team and Senior Management Council, and to the JIBC community as a whole."

Ms. Ramsay holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in labour and industrial relations from the University of British Columbia.

"I look forward to developing a human resources strategy that supports the employees, learners, and the organization overall and identifies opportunities to streamline and modernize human resources processes," said Ms. Ramsay. "It is an interesting time to dive into the world of post-secondary education as we have had to adapt to a significantly changed work world due to COVID-19. There are learnings and new ways of operating emerging that can help support a strong and flexible work environment."
