Despite the cancellation of the 2020/2021 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) season due to COVID-19, Red Deer College student-athletes remained committed to their academics, training regimens and involvement in the community.
Once again, the RDC Student-Athletes Advisory Council played a vital role in proudly representing the College's student-athlete body and organizing initiatives within RDC Athletics and central Alberta. This past year, the Council spearheaded team fitness challenges, mental health awareness to complement the ACAC Make Some Noise for Mental Health campaign, Bleed Green Challenge to promote blood donations and Drive-Thru Food Drive in support of the Red Deer Food Bank.
"It has definitely been a unique year for our student-athletes with the ongoing pandemic. I am extremely proud of their hard work and dedication to their multi-faceted roles as RDC student-athletes," said Kylie Thomas, RDC Vice President Academic and Research. "I am most grateful that we can celebrate the outstanding achievements in the classroom, impactful leadership on the individual teams, within RDC Athletics and central Alberta communities throughout the year."
