NORTHERN ALBERTA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Matt Lindberg named dean of NAIT's School of Skilled Trades

May 21, 2021

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is pleased to announce that Matt Lindberg has been named the new dean of the School of Skilled Trades.

Lindberg brings substantial experience to the role, including a year serving as the interim dean of the polytechnic's School of Skilled Trades where he demonstrated exceptional leadership navigating trades education throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He was also instrumental in the recent launch of NAIT's four trade-based diploma programs, which provide more education pathways for individuals pursuing a career in the trades.

Starting at NAIT 15 years ago as an instructor in the plumbing and gas-fitting apprenticeship programs, Lindberg has been heavily involved in Skills Alberta and Skills Canada, competing in the 1999 provincial and national competitions, and serving as an expert on the world skills stage throughout his career. He has also held several senior roles including pipe trades program chair (2012-2016) and associate dean academic (2016-2020).

Prior to joining NAIT, Lindberg spent 11 years working with a family-owned plumbing and heating company.

Lindberg is passionate about trades-related programs, the opportunities these programs provide for NAIT students and graduates, and about advancing the skilled trades.
