Northern Gateway Public Schools is pleased to announce Ms. Jocelyn Breland as the new Assistant Principal for Valleyview elementary schools, effective August 2024.
Ms. Breland has been a respected and valued member of the Oscar Adolphson Primary (OAP) team since 2001, where she currently teaches Kindergarten and supervises the Junior Kindergarten program. Jocelyn brings a wealth of leadership and early education experience to the position honed over her 28 years as an educator, and as OAP's Inclusive Education Facilitator. Throughout her career, Jocelyn has demonstrated a commitment to fostering school communities where students, staff and caregivers feel valued and encouraged.
NGPS Superintendent Kevin Bird commented, "Ms. Breland is an experienced, collaborative and hands-on leader. Her strong connections within the school and greater communities will serve her, and students, well."

Ms. Breland holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta.
