The Government of Yukon provides human resource services to two of the Yukon's three school authorities. The following update relates to these two authorities, Yukon Education and the Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon. The First Nation School Board manages staffing for their 11 schools and can be contacted directly with any questions.
As of August 22, 2024, for the 21 schools managed by Yukon Education:
- approximately 94 per cent of positions for teachers, Yukon First Nation Language teachers, principals and vice-principals are filled; and
- active recruitment, including internal job postings, continues for:
- 18 teachers;
- four Yukon First Nation Language teachers;
- one principal; and
- one vice-principal.
As of August 22, 2024, the three schools managed by the Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon are fully staffed for teachers, principals and vice principals.

Teachers on call
As of August 22, 2024, recruitment was complete or in the final stages for 214 teachers on call. This includes:
- 180 in Whitehorse; and
- 34 in communities.
This reflects a 42 per cent increase in teachers on call when compared to this time last year. The Government of Yukon hires teachers on call on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
