Join us in congratulating Mr. Drew Chipman, Assistant Superintendent Corporate Services, Secretary Treasurer for Foothills School Division, on his retirement effective June 30, 2025. Mr. Chipman, a respected Certified School Business Official, has had a remarkable 35-year career in municipal and school division leadership.

Prior to joining the FSD in 2002, Mr. Chipman served in various business management roles for the County of Forty Mile (1989 - 1992) and County of Warner (1992 - 1994). In 1994, Drew joined the Westwind School Division as Secretary-Treasurer where he provided exemplary corporate leadership until joining FSD in 2003.

Mr. Chipman has been crucial to the FSD team, aiding six Superintendents and multiple Boards of Trustees. Over 22 years, Drew has shown an enduring dedication to students, excellence in corporate management, compassionate leadership, appreciated humour, and constant humility in his leadership capacity.

Mr. Chipman has skillfully guided the Division through significant challenges, including the 2013 floods and the Covid-19 pandemic. He is well-respected provincially and beyond, having served on numerous boards and as a President of the Association of School Business Officials of Alberta (ASBOA). In 2023, Drew was awarded the esteemed Fellow Certified School Business Official (FCSBO) designation for his exceptional service in school business administration and his role as a distinguished role model.

Superintendent Chris Fuzessy offers this message to the system, "It has been a true pleasure to work and learn alongside Drew in my time at Foothills School Division. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will certainly be missed by me, and our entire system. Drew brings a certain levity and care to his work daily that enriches those around him and is appreciated. I have had the opportunity to work with Drew for six great years and wish him only the best in his retirement in the company of his family, future projects and his next endeavors."

Drew shares the following message, "When I look back at my time in education it will be the people and the relationships that mean the most. Foothills has been a great place to work, it's a division full of outstanding individuals who want the best for all its students and staff. There have been triumphs and tragedies, but the focus has always been on how we can continue to get better. I'd like to thank the many, many individuals that have made coming to work so worthwhile and rewarding."

We look forward to celebrating Drew's career in FSD this spring at our Milestones event in June.
