CALGARY BOARD OF EDUCATION
Two New Schools Announced for NE Calgary

February 24, 2025

On Feb. 15, 2025, two new schools were announced for the Calgary Board of Education, as part of the Alberta Government's commitment to accelerated funding to build new schools.

The CBE has received a new high school in Cornerstone and a new K-4 elementary school in Redstone.

"We are grateful to the provincial government for this new high school in Cornerstone and new elementary school in Redstone. These urgently needed new schools will benefit students in the northeast corner of Calgary, which is experiencing strong growth," said Board Chair Patricia Bolger.

"Across Calgary, the CBE has over 11,000 CBE students who are waiting for new schools to be announced this year, so they can attend school closer to home. These two schools are great news for over 3,000 of our students and their families."

These projects will be delivered by Alberta Infrastructure through two public-private partnership bundles, with next steps being contractor selection and project design.

The 2026-29 Three-Year School Capital Plan will be presented and discussed by the Board of Trustees in March.
