ST. CLAIR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Board Approves $2.59 Million in Capital Projects

March 31, 2025

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has approved a slate of capital projects for the 2024-2025 school year, investing more than $2.5 million in major renovations and site improvements across several school communities.

The funding is part of the Board's annual capital renewal strategy, supported by the Ministry of Education's School Condition Improvement (SCI) program. This initiative provides school boards with funding to revitalize aging infrastructure and ensure safe, accessible, and modern learning environments for students.

Key projects approved for 2024-2025 include:

  • Gymnasium renovations at St. Patrick's Catholic High School in Sarnia, with a project budget of $690,000;
  • Asphalt and yard improvements at three schools:
    • Sacred Heart Catholic School, Sarnia
    • St. Anne Catholic School, Blenheim
    • St. Elizabeth Catholic School, Wallaceburg

These site improvement projects are budgeted at a total of $2.59 million.

In addition to the approved major projects, approximately 17 smaller-scale improvements are planned for the coming year. These include accessibility upgrades, HVAC and fire alarm system replacements, facade repairs, roof maintenance, and school-funded outdoor play enhancements across various sites. The total funding available to St. Clair Catholic for capital improvements in 2024-2025 is approximately $8.7 million, which includes new SCI and School Renewal Allocation (SRA) grants and unused funds carried forward from 2023-2024. All capital funds must be used within designated timelines, with this year's allocations expiring in March 2027.

These projects reflect the Board's commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive learning environments for all students.
