The DSB1 Board of Trustees approved a motion to support the election results at the May 6, 2025, meeting.
"On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to congratulate the incoming Student Trustees on their election. Student voice at the board table brings great value to our discussions. We look forward to working with each of them starting this fall," said Cindy Pye-Reasbeck, Board Chair.
Sawsan Alahmed from Timmins High & Vocational School will serve as a two-year Student Trustee. Nathan Cull from Timiskaming District Secondary School will serve as a one-year Student Trustee. Summer Nickoshie from École Secondaire Cochrane High School will serve as a one-term Indigenous Student Trustee.
DSB1 would like to thank Alexandra Gauthier and Aiesha Hindle for their leadership and positive contributions during their term as Student Trustees. We wish them well on their future endeavours.
Student Trustees are democratically elected by the DSB1 Student Senate, a body that represents the diverse voices of up to three students from each of the nine secondary schools within the Board. This inclusive process allows students in Grades 10 to 12 to run for the Student Trustee position, and the current Student Senate carefully selects the candidates for the upcoming year.
DSB1 would like to thank all 2024-2025 Student Senators for their efforts in this election process.
