Home Quest offers a blended-model approach to education, bringing together a Delta School District certified teacher, the student, and their home facilitator to support learners from Kindergarten to Grade 9 outside of the traditional classroom-based instruction.
Families can combine home learning with participation in activities for students designed to complement and enrich home-based learning such as in-person classes, outdoor education, field trips, workshops and virtual sessions. These activities enable students to engage with teachers and peers while extending the learning experiences facilitated at home.
"Families and teachers work together to design a Student Learning Plan tailored to the BC Curriculum. They meet at the end of every term to review and update the plan, and to consider what other resources are needed to meet the evolving needs of the student. Teachers then also write regular Delta School District report cards," said Tiffany Cherry, Home Quest Coordinator.
Home Quest is ideal for families who want to homeschool their child while receiving guidance to implement BC's curriculum, or for students who may not be thriving in the traditional school environment.
The program, which is aligned with the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care's guidelines, was established in 2005. In 2022, Home Quest became a Provincial Online School .
Enrolment is ongoing through the year depending on availability. For more information, please watch the above video, take a look at this brochure or visit homequest.deltasd.bc.ca
