CITY OF CHARLOTTETOWN
Student Awarded City of Charlottetown Prize at Provincial Heritage Fair

May 8, 2026

The City of Charlottetown Prize is awarded annually to a student who exhibits an outstanding project on Charlottetown's heritage. MacDonald won the prize for his project entitled L'histoire des arénas à l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (The history of Arenas in Prince Edward Island). The project explored the history of the Charlottetown Forum and the Sherwood Sportsplex (Cody Banks Arena) and the various hockey teams that played there.

More than 216 students in grades 5 to 10, from 26 schools/home school associations across Prince Edward Island participated in this year's Provincial Heritage Fair. The Heritage Fair program is an educational initiative that provides students with an opportunity to present their projects to judges from their communities. The top projects chosen from each school go on to the Provincial Heritage Fair, which took place on April 30 at the Eastlink Centre.

Please join us in congratulating Elliott and all of this year's finalists!
