ST. CLAIR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Working Together: St. Clair Catholic and Chatham-Kent Police Collaborate to Support Safe Schools and Communities

August 28, 2026

The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) and St. Clair Catholic District School Board recently came together to highlight their ongoing partnership and shared commitment to keeping schools and the community safe.

Through this collaboration, CKPS used the former, vacant Georges P. Vanier school for Immediate Rapid Deployment (IRD) training from July 27-July 31. This provincially mandated training is designed to ensure officers maintain the skills necessary to respond to critical incidents in schools and the community. Seven officers from Chatham-Kent and surrounding municipalities took part in the training throughout the week focused on emergency preparedness.

Representatives from St. Clair Catholic also had the opportunity to watch some of the police training exercises.

"Opportunities like this are extremely valuable because they allow us to work together and learn firsthand from our community partners," says St. Clair Catholic CEO and CEdO Lisa Demers. "We are grateful for this continued collaboration and for the dedication of the Chatham-Kent Police Service to keeping our schools and community safe."

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the St. Clair Catholic for their support in the public safety training.
