The Durham District School Board (DDSB) congratulates Doug Crichton, Superintendent of Education/Operations/Transportation and Leadership Development, on his secondment to the position of Regional Manager, Ministry of Education, Barrie Regional Office. The appointment is effective September 1, 2015.
Prior to his appointment to Operations, Mr. Crichton was the DDSB's Superintendent of Education/Special Education/Grove School, a position he held since 2008.
"Superintendent Crichton's dedication to Durham District School Board students and his leadership to the system is greatly appreciated," said Director of Education, Martyn Beckett. "On behalf of senior administration, we wish Doug every success in his new role," added Mr. Beckett.
Prior to becoming a Superintendent, Mr. Crichton was the DDSB's Special Education Officer from 2005 to 2008. He has also served as the Area Administrative Officer for Ajax and Scugog Schools from 2003 to 2005. Mr. Crichton was Principal of the former F.M. Heard PS in Whitby and Vice Principal at Frenchman's Bay PS in Pickering. He joined the DDSB in 1993 as an elementary school teacher.
The DDSB will provide further information regarding a replacement for the portfolio.
