Mike Gibbins appointed as Communications & Administrative Assistant

Yellowknife Education District No.1 (YK1) is proud to announce the appointment of Mike Gibbins as Communications & Administrative Assistant at the YK1 District Office.

Originally from the Greater Toronto Area, Gibbins completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at Carleton University in Ottawa before completing his post-graduate certificate in Radio Broadcasting at Humber College.

Since Gibbins moved to Yellowknife in January, 2014, he has worked as a reporter and news director at CJCD-FM and a reporter at CBC North. 

"We are excited to have Mike join our team at the District Office," said YK1 Superintendent Metro Huculak. 

"His communications experience will ensure that our district maintains effective communication between our staff, students, parents, and stakeholders." 

Outside of work, Gibbins is a big-time sports enthusiast and enjoys basketball, volleyball, slo-pitch, fishing, hiking, kayaking and camping.
