NUNAVUT
New playground at Leo Ussak School in Rankin Inlet

August 8, 2017

Leo Ussak students, their families and other community members can now enjoy more exercise and play at the newly built playground in the Hamlet of Rankin Inlet.

The new playground is a public space designed for children and youth of all ages. It includes monkey bars, slides and areas for climbing that will provide recreation, enjoyment and a place for Nunavummiut to gather.

The Department of Education recognizes the importance of safety and physical activity. Installing newly-designed playgrounds that meet the highest national safety standards on our school sites provides students, and the community at large, with access to a safe environment for outdoor activity and exercise.

New playgrounds will also be built in other communities across Nunavut; including Chesterfield Inlet, Qikiqtarjuaq, Arviat, Coral Harbour, Whale Cove, and Kimmirut.
