Mario Pascucci re-elected chair of DPCDSB

At the annual Organizational meeting of the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board held Tuesday, December 5, Mario Pascucci, Mississauga Wards 1 & 3 trustee, was re-elected chair of the 11-member Board of Trustees. During his 34 years as a trustee, Mr. Pascucci has served in various leadership capacities, including previous terms as chair of the Board. He has also served as chair of the Board's Administration and Finance, Audit, and Faith and Program Committees.

Anna Da Silva, Brampton Wards 1, 3 & 4 trustee, was elected vice-chair. Ms. Da Silva has also served in various leadership capacities during her seven years on the board of trustees.

"I am honoured and humbled to be chosen again as chair by my fellow trustees," said Mario Pascucci. "I will always do my best to advocate for our students and families, to listen diligently and to work in unison with trustees and staff as we collectively strive to provide the best Catholic education we can for our students." Added Mr. Pascucci, "We must continue to reach out and share the good news of Catholic education and to profile the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board wherever we go."

Mr. Pascucci also thanked the Board's senior management team, administrators, faculty and staff, as well as unions and associations and parish priests for their collaborative approach to serving the community.

The Organizational Meeting was preceded by a Mass celebrated by His Excellency, Bishop John A. Boissonneau. The meeting also featured the annual Address to the Board by the Director of Education, in which Director Marianne Mazzorato thanked stakeholders, including trustees, faculty and staff, management, administration, unions and associations and parish partners for their commitment and dedication to Catholic education. She also thanked parents, guardians and students for choosing a Dufferin-Peel Catholic education. Director Mazzorato spoke about the human element in all that we do, highlighting a wide range of faculty, staff, clergy, administration and trustee examples as being key elements in the story of "us".

In addition to the election of the Board chair and vice chair, trustees elected or acclaimed the chairs and vice chairs of various standing committees of the Board.

  • Faith and Program Committee: Luz del Rosario - Chair, Shawn Xaviour - Vice Chair
  • Board By-law/Policies Review Committee: Bruno Iannicca - Chair, Thomas Thomas - Vice Chair
  • Contract and Negotiations Committee: Frank Di Cosola - Chair, Darryl D'Souza - Vice Chair
