Rocky View Schools' (RVS) Superintendent of Schools Greg Luterbach is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Billings as Principal of R.J. Hawkey Elementary School, effective August 2018.

"Jason's ability to establish a safe and caring school climate, coupled with an understanding that communication between home and school is a priority, make him the ideal candidate for this position," said Luterbach."I know the staff and students at R.J. Hawkey will embrace his collaborative, inclusive approach and thrive under his leadership. I congratulate Jason in moving into a principal role."
Currently the Assistant Principal of East Lake School, Billings arrived in Rocky View Schools in 2016 from the Peel School Board in Ontario where he served as a principal, assistant principal, and teacher since 2005. He also served as a teacher and team leader in Seoul, South Korea from 2003 - 2005 and a math and science teacher for the Calgary Board of Education from 1999 - 2002. In his role as East Lake's Assistant Principal he has been fundamental in leading the school's character education/leadership program and ensuring the school's results reports along with feedback from students, staff, and parents drive continuous improvement.
Billings holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Framingham State College, a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario. He also has engaged in a wealth of professional learning activities, focusing on literacy, coaching and opportunity in conflict, and instructional leadership.
