PEACE WAPITI SCHOOL DIVISION NO. 76
Taqa North Ltd. provides $1,500 boost, ongoing support for LaGlace and Penson School nutrition programs

May 21, 2019

Taqa North Limited's slogan, "We mean energy" will be particularly meaningful to students at LaGlace and Penson Schools after the company committed ongoing support to childhood nutrition yesterday. Robin McCullough, Field Administrator and Carleen Floyd, Production Administrator with the Grande Prairie office of the global company presented a $1,500 cheque for the current school year to Superintendent Bob Stewart at Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) Central Office on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Ron Chernuka, Superintendent of Taqa North Limited says, "We are pleased to expand our support of school nutrition to include two PWPSD schools. We endeavor to provide ongoing support in the communities where our employees live and work."

PWPSD Superintendent Bob Stewart says, "A child who arrives at school hungry is a child who is not ready to learn. With the donation from Taqa North Limited, and their commitment of future support, Penson and LaGlace Schools will be able to meet the needs of students who may not eat breakfast at home due to financial need or barriers to their care, such as parents who are suffering from health issues. Also, due to lengthy bus rides and early morning pick-up times, many students may not feel ready to eat breakfast at home. This donation ensures our students will have greater access to healthy food, no questions asked."
