Winnipeg School Division (WSD) is offering summer session in-school classes from July 8 to July 31 for students wishing to take Grade 9 to 12 credit courses. Classes will be held at Andrew Mynarski V.C. School and Grant Park High School, following all applicable public health guidelines to ensure the safety of both staff and students. Classes are limited to 16 students.
"We recognize that for some students, attending classes in person is going to help them attain those credits better than the online courses," says Rob Riel, Director of Indigenous Education. "We are continuing to support students who need additional technology to access online courses through InformNet as well."
For in-school classes, both repeater and non-repeater courses are being offered. InformNet is for repeater courses only.
Registration for WSD in-school summer session courses is online or by phone (204) 586-5015. There is no in-person registration, as the WSD summer session office is not open to the public.
"To ensure students who prefer in-school classes have the opportunity to take them, we have restricted the enrolment to one course per person," says Riel. "The courses will only run if there are enough students registered in the course, and we will make a final decision by June 19 on what courses are running, to allow for sufficient time for our students to register."
In-school summer session classes for repeater courses is $210 and for non-repeater courses is $350 for students living within WSD. Non-resident students will pay $350 for a repeater course and $570 for a non-repeater course. The registration form will be posted Friday, May 22 on winnipegsd.ca/summer-session. WSD is compiling a list of students interested in enrolling in the Grade 9 to 12 courses based on completed registrations and payment. If a course does not run due to insufficient enrolment, a full refund of registration payment will be made. Decisions on whether courses will run will be posted on the WSD summer-session website.
