Western Canada High School Receives NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Educator Award

April 13, 2022

Western Canada High School Educator, James Chow has received the NCWIT AiC Educator Award. The award, powered by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), identifies exemplary formal and informal educators who play a pivotal role in encouraging 9th-12th grade students who self-identify as women, genderqueer, or non-binary to explore their interest in computing and technology. The award recognizes these educators for their efforts to promote gender equity in computing.

More than 100 recipients were selected from 43 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and Canada.

"These educators' support goes a long way in motivating students to apply their creativity and unique perspectives as they learn computational skills. Students are often more likely to pursue computing education when they are encouraged by their educators and other adult influencers," said NCWIT CEO and Co-founder Lucy Sanders.

We are proud that one of our own educators received this prestigious award. Western Canada High School continues to offer computing and coding as part of its curriculum, recognizing its value to students' future success.
