During the City of Barrie's Spring into Clean events, which took place from April 22 to 24, elementary and secondary schools in the municipality collected a total of 2,130 kgs of litter from their school property and surrounding park areas.

Schools were provided with gloves and garbage bags to assist with the clean-up efforts, and there were 32 Barrie schools who participated this year.
The top six classes who collected the most litter were thanked with gift cards from Tim Hortons, the presenting sponsor for Spring into Clean.
